Save the date for the NY Women’s Surf Film Festival, taking place this upcoming August at THE place to be in NYC all Summer, the Rockaway Beach Surf Club, and founded by friend/surfer/mom/designer/entrepreneur Davina Grincevicius.
Speaking of films, we found the most incredible surf film we have seen in a while. Big Wata is a film about Sierra Leone’s only surfers, their struggles, dreams. I was so impressed with their style and the beautiful cinematography. It’s one of the best surf films I’ve seen in a while. I hope it blows up. See the teaser below or buy it here.
Ever since visiting Banff and Jasper about three years ago I have been obsessed with Canada. They seem to have it together. They have proven my theory right by officially banning all whales and dolphins to be held in captivity, because DUH. Read about it here.
True Story: 18-year-old Boyan Slat invented a system to help clean up the ocean, Non-profit Ocean Cleanup snatched and funded the idea, and now has made it a reality. It’s so exciting to see that the system has been launched off the coast of San Francisco! Read about it here.
